"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."
- Jorge Luis Borges
Perhaps it is not quite a paradise, but our Learning Resource Centre is certainly busy and thriving. All students and staff are automatically members of the LRC. We are located right next to the main entrance, and are open every day, with open access for students before school, at lunchtime and after school until 4pm.
We aim to provide a friendly and welcoming space for all members of the school, and to provide the resources our students and staff need. Our excellent range of up to date fiction and recreational non-fiction helps us encourage our students to love reading. Other resources are chosen, in conjunction with teaching staff, to support the curriculum being taught in school. The School’s experienced Chartered Librarian is on hand to offer advice and guidance on choosing books to read, or finding information.
Students have access to the LRC computers and printing facilities, as well as the LRC computer management system, Eclipse. This can be accessed from anywhere in school, so that borrowers can log into their own accounts to see what they have on loan, or to check what the LRC has in stock.
Throughout the school year, the LRC offers opportunities for students to take part in various additional activities. Each year a group of students helps to run the LRC by training to be volunteer student librarians. Groups have been involved in judging the North East Book Awards, attending author talks, and joining in activities for World Book Day and other events.
Our School Librarian is always happy to help with queries relating to students’ reading, books and other reading material and the management of the LRC.

Congratulations to our students, staff, governors and families on two fantastic inspections,
each lasting two days! Ofsted were the first to visit under the New Framework in January this year, closely followed by a SIAS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools). Judged from Good to Outstanding in all categories.:
Most of all, we pride ourselves on being inclusive; a neighbourhood school, open to all. See our new Admissions Policy or simply give us a ring and we’ll show you around.
