18.11.2013. Stand Up Against Bullying. We Do!

Dear Parents/Carers

Venerable Bede pupils have just won the national BIG award for the second time, the only secondary school to win it twice.

Pupils take the lead in the stance against bullying, with year 9 pupils being trained as mediators and presenting a strong message to the whole school.

Our focus this year? Stamping out ‘cyber-bullying! Although technology is a fantastic thing, pupils need to know how to use it safely. Facebook, MSN, Ask FM, X Box 360 all have to be used safely to protect ourselves from cyber-bullying.

“I know there is always someone to talk to at Venerable Bede if I get worried”, said one year 9 pupil. A parent also commented, “It is great that the school have an open, clear policy on bullying.”

Recent Inspections

Congratulations to our students, staff, governors and families on two fantastic inspections,

each lasting two days! Ofsted were the first to visit under the New Framework in January this year, closely followed by a SIAS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools). Judged from Good to Outstanding in all categories.:

Most of all, we pride ourselves on being inclusive; a neighbourhood school, open to all. See our new Admissions Policy or simply give us a ring and we’ll show you around.
