On behalf of myself, the staff and Governors of The Venerable Bede Church of England School, I am delighted to enclose a copy of the Ofsted report that was carried out in January of this year. We were visited by 4 Inspectors and the inspection was also quality assured by a lead HMI (Her Majesty’s Inspector), HMI Susan Brown, on the second day.
Ofsted have judged the school to be “Good” in all categories and I would like to thank you for your role in this success. Our students deserve to feel extremely proud of their progress and behaviour. The report is a tremendous accolade to the improvements we have made together and really shows what we already knew - that we are going in the right direction. Of course, we will not be resting on our laurels! Our ambition for your children remains steadfast and aspirational. Please take the time to read through the report which is divided into 4 key areas: Achievement, Quality of Teaching, Behaviour and Safety, Leadership and Management. The report also outlines areas for further development which are already part of our School Development Plan.
Here are only some of the headline comments that sum up the findings of the Inspectors:
• “Achievement is good...” • “Strong capacity to improve further...” • “Teaching is predominantly good and some is outstanding...” • “Teaching is motivational...” • “Significantly above average results...” • “Learning is promoted successfully for all groups of students...” • “Students are enthused and want to learn...” • “Behaviour is good...” • “Breaks and lunchtimes are calm and well-ordered...” • “Strong climate for learning...” • “Relationships positive in lessons and around school...”
We could not have achieved this without your support and co-operation. I will be personally thanking the students for their excellent attitude and I am very proud of them all.
Finally, over the next few weeks, we will be taking part in an Anglican Inspection as a Church School and I look forward to sharing the feedback from this with you next month.
The school is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners • Behaviour is good...calm and well-ordered • Students are enthused and want to learn • Exceptional staff commitment • Senior Leadership of the highest calibre • Pioneering work • Significant investment to develop the quality of teaching • Teaching is motivational • Students are making strong gains • High parental satisfaction • Students talk with pride...relationships are positive in lessons and around the school • The atmosphere for learning and for personal and spiritual growth is outstanding • A purposeful and forward-looking institution capable of further outstanding growth
Congratulations to our students, staff, governors and families on two fantastic inspections,
each lasting two days! Ofsted were the first to visit under the New Framework in January this year, closely followed by a SIAS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools). Judged from Good to Outstanding in all categories.:
Most of all, we pride ourselves on being inclusive; a neighbourhood school, open to all. See our new Admissions Policy or simply give us a ring and we’ll show you around.
