Mental Health Awareness Week 2020

May 20th, 2020

18-24 May 2020 is Mental Health Awareness Week.

From bbc.co.uk:

Mental Health Awareness Week 2020 is a chance for the UK to focus on mental health.

This year’s theme is kindness, with the week running from 18 – 24 May.

The focus on kindness is a response to the coronavirus outbreak, which is having a big impact on people’s mental health.

Some people have mental health conditions like depression or anxiety, which means they have feelings that won’t go away and which start to really affect day-to-day life.

Mark Rowland, chief executive of the Mental Health Foundation, said: “We want to use Mental Health Awareness Week to celebrate the thousands of acts of kindness that are so important to our mental health. And we want to start a discussion on the kind of society we want to shape as we emerge from this pandemic.”

Have you carried out any acts of kindness recently? Watch the video above to hear what some of you have to say about the importance of being kind.

VB Logo Turns Blue in Support of the NHS and Key Workers

April 21st, 2020

In solidarity with those working in our health services as well as other Key Workers such as those who work in schools and shops, we have published a special blue version of our academy logo.

A Prayer for Key Workers

We pray for all doctors, nurses, emergency and key workers.
May they rejoice in the skills you have given them which enable them to bring hope, healing, and wholeness to those in their care.
May they also know guidance and support in times of pain and frustration when their skills are not enough to prevent permanent injury, disability or death.
Bless each one of them, that they may be a blessing to others.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
